Sea bass and tog are also still biting on the local wrecks and reefs and there are triggerfish in the mix. Schoolie Stripers, blues and tog are being caught around the local bridges, the canal and the inlet.

October 7, 2024 - Finally something to report. Well, the seas finally calmed down enough at the end of last week and boats were able to get out there and do some fishing. Many, many, many tuna were caught over the weekend. The bluefin bite at places like Little Italy and the Glory Hole was red hot. Fish were caught on the chunk, jigs, and on the troll. The bite at the Canyon was also red on yellowfins and mahi's. Also, a lot of good reports on sea bass, porgies and triggerfish at places like the Sea Girt Reef and the Klondike. Clams were doing better than jigs. A lot of togs being caught in the canal and around the bridges. There is also a good striper bite inside the canal.

September 20, 2024 - Although the ocean has been shut down, there are plenty of fishing opportunities available. People fishing the inlet wall have been catching many, many, many fluke with a good number of keepers in the mix. There are also plenty of mullet in the inlet as well and there have been stripers swerling around the dock every morning. There has also been good blackfishing in the canal as well.

September 14, 2024 - Good fishing reported on the east wall of the Hudson. It was a early morning bite between 3-6. We also had a 53 pound Wahoo weighed in at the shop yesterday, which was caught within 15 miles on a rigged ballyhoo. We also had an 8 pound fluke brought into the scale that was caught at the Rattlesnake. Plenty of Mahi's, ablies, bonita and blues being caught inshore. The Manasquan and Barnegat Ridges have been pretty go bets. A few bluefin also in the mix.

September 12. 2024 - The offshore tuna bite is heating up. A number of boats came back from the Canyon with good reports. Fish being caught on both chunks and on the troll. The mid range bite has also been producing some big yellowfin. Fish your baits close to the bottom for better success. There are still plenty of Albies, Blues, and Bonita around the inshore grounds. The Inlet wall is still producing good Fluke action. Spearing and killies have been working the best.

September 6, 2024 - Although the ocean may be off limits for a day or two, the River is defintely producing some good fluke action this morning. A couple of boats came in this morning and said the action was good with a lot of fish and a number of decent size fluke in the mix. Fishing off the inlet wall was also good this morning as well, with a few keeper size fish being caught there too. Before the ocean starting kicking there was a outstanding bluefin bite happening at Little Italy. Wednesday morning's bite was outstanding with small and medium size fish being caught on the troll and on poppers and jigs.

December 3, 2023 - The inshore bluefin tuna bite has been nothing short of outstanding. Large schools of bluefin has been showing up within 5 miles anywhere from the Manasquan Inlet to the Barnegat Inlet. Poppers, plastic eels and rigged ballyhoo have all been hooking bluefin. The striper bite also continues to be strong, Tog fishing in the inlet and canal has also been very good.

November 22, 2023 - Striper fishing has been outstanding up until yesterday's blow, lets hope the weather cooperates over the Thanksgiving Day Weekend. There have also been a number of inshore bluefin tuna landed over the last few days. Tog fishing was also good on the local rough spots, the inlet and the canal.

November 10, 2023 - Although Wednesday's fishing can only be described as "epic", today's Striper bite was much different. There was a decent early morning bite off of Spring Lake and Island Beach, but after that the bite dropped off. The good news is that a number of bluefin were caught inshore. Poppers and trolling rigged ballyhoo were effective.

October 13, 2023 - Big bass are blitzing between the inlets this morning (Manasquan to Shark River) Go get um. Went offshore yesterday, tuna fishing was outstanding. Fished outside of the Bacardi (87 miles). Fish were all on bait. Landed 4 yellowfin and 1 bluefin. Released 4 bluefin. Fish turned on right at noon.

October 11, 2023 - The fall striper run has begun. Very large stripers (40's - 50's) are being caught near schools of peanut bunker. Swim shads have been the most productive bait. The yellowfin bite has been outstanding in the triple wreck area. Butterfish have been the bait of choice. tog fishing in the canal has been good on green crabs. Sea bass fishing has also been very good on the local reefs.

October 6, 2023 -  The yellowfin bite at the triple wreck area continues like it was before the big blow. Yellowfin, bluefin and big eyes are all being caught, primarily on bait. Sea bass fishing this week has been good, with the Axel Carlson Reef being the best bet for inshore fishing. Clams have been working much better than the jigs. Togs are also being caught on the reefs, and tog fishing has also been very good inside the Manasquan Inlet and the Canal as well.

September 5, 2023 - The yellowfin bite is on. Tuna hitting poppers and jigs. Fish located in the 70 mile range. Fluke fishing up and down since the swell started. Better fishing on the sea girt reef and the klondike area.

August 2, 2023 - Fishing last week and over the weekend was very good. The bluefin bite at the lumps continued with a number of fish in the 90-120 pound class being caught. The late afternoon and early evening bite seems to be the ticket. I fished the Axel on Saturday for fluke and had a great day. We easily caught our overs, but came up a fish shy on our slots. Big fish was a 6.75 pounder caught on a white Salty Wife ball jig with a swing hook tipped with a 6 inch white gulp grub.

August 18, 2023 - There's been a good yellowfin bite over the last few days in the 50-60 mile range. Fish have been caught trolling, jigging and on top water. There have also been a few wahoo caught as well. Mahi mahi have also been caught on the pots.

August 7, 2023 - More tuna landed this weekend at the Tolten Lumps / Wreck area. Fluke fishing was also solid on the Axel and Sea Girt Reefs.

July 27, 2023 - Reports of yellowfin being caught between the Resor and Triple Wrecks. Also, a nice 178 pound bluefin was weighed in at the dock by the crew of the Kaley Marie. Fish was caught mid range,

July 24, 2023 - Fluke, fluke, fluke. Fluke fishing has been outstanding over the last 4 days with many big fish being landed on the local reefs. The only problem with catching a limit is finding the allusive 17-18 inch fluke. The inshore tuna bite was also very good on Friday, but dropped off a bit on Saturday. Blame that on the blown forecast. Areas like Little Italy and the Tolten has been producing.

July 19, 2023 - The inshore tuna bite continues, with a number of fish being brought in caught on jigs and popper. Places like Little Italy continue to produce fish. Fluking on the reefs dropped a bit at the beginning of the week, but a few nice fish have been brought into the dock. Captain Alex on the On Point came in with a very nice 9 lb. 3 oz. doormat.

July 14, 2023 - We've had a number of tuna weighed in at the dock this week. The fish have been caught at a number of different spots, including the Barnegat Ridge to Little Italy, out to the triple wrecks. Fish have been caught on poppers, on the troll, and live lining mackerel. Fluke fishing has been decent as well. The Axel appears to be producing better than the Sea Girt.

July 9, 2023 - The tuna bite continued into the weekend, with a number of good catches of bluefin, yellowfin and bigeyes being reported both inshore and offshore. Seems like those that can stay away from the fleets are having more success. Fluke fishing in the River and the reefs also remained pretty steady over the weekend once the drift picked up.

July 5, 2023 - Fished the Axel again yesterday, the fluke fishing was outstanding. Conditions and the drift were perfect. Water temperature was in the upper 60's. We caught a two person limit and had many, many throwbacks. Fish were definitely more spread out then our previous trips and we were able to make some nice long drifts. Chartreuse was yesterday's hot color. Don't forget you can also catch one sea bass per person, so we dunked a few clams on a well-occupied rough spot and caught two nice knuckleheads.

July 3, 2023 - For inshore tuna, the Barnegat Ridge area has been producing bluefin over the last week. Surface plugs and live-lining mackerel have been producing fish. The offshore tuna bite has also been producing good numbers of yellowfin and bigeyes. Fluking on the Axel and Sea Girt Reefs has picked up as well. The fish are in tight groups and along the edges of the rough patches.

June 30, 2023 - Ran out to the Axel yesterday for fluke. Fished at least a dozen spots that I have saved on the gps. Found fish on three of the spots. Worked each spot hard and managed to bring back one fish less than a three person limit. All on board were fishing a Captain Bill's Bucktail Drift Rig tipped with a gulp (mullets and grubs, color really didn't matter) and squid. The inshore bluefin bite has also started again. Fish has been busting surface within the 25 mile range.

June 22, 2023 - The Manasquan River fluke bite has been good the last few days with anglers reporting a good catch on gulp tipped with spearing. There has also been a very good Striper bite in the River, as well, on clams with many fish over 30 inches being reported. Those fish have been consistently biting an hour or two after the top of the tide. Catch of the week goes to angler Brandon Hoy and crew on the Compass Rose with a 532 pound Thresher Shark.

June 7, 2023 - Hit the Sea Bass grounds again yesterday with my daughter. It was her first time sea bass fishing. We fished a number of spots on the Axel Carlson Reef. Fishing was good as we managed to put 14 nice sea bass in the cooler. The keeper to throw back ratio has definitely slipped a bit as expected. We did switch over to fluke for the last hour of our trip and we did manage to catch one over and two slot fish in that time. Water temperature on the Axel was in the 62-64 degree range. We used rainbow clams for the sea bass and Captain Bill's bucktail jigs and drift rigs for the fluke. The fluke were hitting a white 4 inch gulp grub tipped with a strip of squid.

May 23, 2023 - Went out Sea Bass fishing today and Sunday. Sunday afternoon I was invited to fish on the On Point with Captain Alex. Fished a number of spots on the Axel Carlson reef. We limited out in 2 1/5 hours. Many, many fish caught on both jigs and bait.  Today fished with Captain George and ventured out to a rough patch just inside and north of the Shark River reef. The ocean was a little sporty, but very fishable on the drift. Didn't have the numbers as we did on Sunday, but we managed 23 nice corker sea bass. All the fish on bait. We started off with regular salted clams, but switched over to the rainbow clams, which were much more effective in staying on the hook.

May 20, 2023 - Sea Bass fishing continues to be outstanding on the local reefs, wrecks and rough spots. Jigs and clams have each been effective. Fluke in the river is improving daily, with bigger fish being reported. Bluefin tuna have also been caught over the weekend. It was reported that the fish were caught on the troll. Ocean stripers have also been caught from Seaside up to Long Branch.

May 18, 2023 - Sea bass fishing for those who were able to make it out Wednesday was outstanding. Captain Alex on the On Point came into the dock by 9:00 am with a limit of sea bass. The fishing was good on both the Axel Carlson and Sea Girt Reefs. The bluefish have been blitzing the Manasquan River at times. And the fluke fishing in the River keeps getting better as the water temperatures continue to rise. Many fish over five pounds have been caught.

May 16, 2023 - Blues are busting inside the Inlet this morning!!!!

May 8, 2023 - Striper fishing picked up in the ocean over the weekend. Most of the fish were reported in the usual areas; Asbury Park, Deal, the Rocks. The bay/river striper fishing was also good this past week, with fish being caught at the railroad bridge, the canal and the areas around the Mantoloking Bridge. Fluke fishing was hit or miss, with the best action being reported above the canal. There have been tuna spotted going through bunker schools, but haven't heard or seen any hookups.

May 3, 2023 - Fluke season opened yesterday, have heard of some fluke being caught above the canal area. Bluefish exploded today in the Manasquan Inlet. Good size fish hitting SP Minnows and XRaps.

April 12, 2023 - Fishing this week continues to improve. Captain Bob on the Gambler reported good fishing today for blackfish and cod on the local rough spots. Stripers are biting in the River and bay at the bridges and holes. There have been a few flounder and  blackfish caught in the inlet.

April 3, 2023 -  Good size Striped Bass have been biting for the last week in the northern Barnegat Bay. Fish are being caught on plugs. Flounder fishing has picked up in the last few days as water temperatures continue to rise.  Blackfish are also being caught on green crabs in the canal.
